MDCalc As of January 2011

Sorry folks, still no iPhone or Android app. I am but a lowly resident with no programming background. Please let me know if you're a programmer!

New Scores:

  • The TIMI Risk Index correlates well with other ACS risk scores, and only uses age, systolic blood pressure, and heart rate.
  • We've now got the Hepatic Encephalopathy Grades/Stages, whatever you want to call them. Good for conveying level of mentation with your transplant consultants.
  • The Westley Croup Score is probably the most popular of all the croup scores out there, but it's mostly for research purposes. Good maybe to help a first-time learner evaluate croup.
  • The Revised Trauma Score correlates well with trauma patients' survival, and is sometimes used to determine who should be transfered to a Trauma Center.
  • The Glasgow Alcoholic Hepatitis Score can accurately predict mortality for alcoholics with hepatitis.
  • And finally: we've got NEXUS and The Canadian C-Spine Rule! Take your pick on which you prefer.

I've also removed the By System, By Specialty, Recents, and Favorites icons from Internet Explorer browsers 6 and 7. Almost weekly people were running into problems with the site working for them, exclusively on those browsers (which are 10 and 5 years old, respectively). Google Chrome is really the way to go.

As always, I welcome your feedback and suggestions!
