Chronic Kidney Disease in Children (CKiD) U25 eGFR Calculator
Estimates glomerular filtration rate based on creatinine and patient characteristics in patients aged 1 to 25.
Advice
- Patients with reduced eGFR should undergo further evaluation, including:
- Assessment of chronicity.
- Detailed evaluation of personal and family history, medications, and social and environmental factors.
- Comprehensive physical examination.
- Diagnostic testing, such as urine studies, imaging, and/or renal biopsy.
- Referral to nephrology.
- For patients with CKD, regular follow-up is crucial to monitor kidney function and adjust management. It is recommended to check albuminuria and eGFR at least annually.
- Medications should be dose-adjusted based on the most recent eGFR to avoid toxicity and ensure efficacy.
