Management

If externally validated, the score could help screen children for fibrosis risk and guide management:

  • Low risk:
    • Reinforce lifestyle and metabolic comorbidity management (weight optimization, diabetes risk reduction).
    • Repeat the score or alternative noninvasive assessment at defined intervals or with clinical change.
  • Elevated risk: May require additional workup, including imaging (e.g., transient/MR/US elastography), liver biopsy, and hepatology referral.
